A tribute to the three British servicemen - Colin Grazier and Tony Fasson who lost their lives at the scene, and Tommy Brown who died shortly after the end of the war - who retrieved the codebooks from sinking German submarine U-559, which enabled Bletchley Park's codebreakers to break the Enigma code and so win the Battle of the Atlantic. pp223(1) with monochrome photo & other illustrations, bibliography, and index. Hardback / hard cover: black boards, backstrip titled etc in gilt. Foot of backstrip a little compressed, otherwise a VERY GOOD+ copy in GOOD unclipped dust jacket lightly creased along upper edges, with open nick and associated slight loss and creasing at lower edge of rear panel, and with a number of very minor indentations/scratchmarks. Inscribed "To Betty best wishes, Phil Shanahan Bletchley Park 7th September, 2008.".
