Novel by French writer Émile Édouard Charles Antoine Zola (1840 - 1902) completed in 1880. Story of Nana Coupeau's rise from streetwalker to high-class cocotte during the last three years of the French Second Empire. Zola writes: "All of a sudden, in the good-natured child the woman stood revealed, a disturbing woman with all the impulsive madness.". Nana destroys all the men who have pursued her.
Leather Bound. Condition: Very Good. Beautifully bound in full leather with raised bands, gilt decoration, all edges gilt, silk moire endpapers, and sewn-in bookmark. A near fine copy.
