Pickford was an English teacher of elementary, high school and college students. Now retired she has turned to writing poetry. This is her 5th book. Poems have been published in Reflections, a publication of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and in The Pen Woman, a publication of the National League of American Pen Women. Pickford has also published her memoir: Removing the Habit of God Sister Christine's Story. This is about the nine years she was an Ursuline nun.
