Roger Helle was a marine. To be a marine means you're the best, but Roger Helle was more than that. He was a legend among the best. Trained to kill, he became a cold methodical fighting machine. Believing that the only good enemy was a dead enemy, his only purpose in Vietnam was to kill as many as he could. He consistently volunteered for the most dangerous of assignments and returned unscathed. Eventually, the Vietcong offered a $500 reward to the person who would kill the man everyone called Mr. Lucky. But Roger's luck ran out. Mortal wounds ended his third tour of duty in Vietnam, and from the valley of death, Roger called out to an unknown God. His recovery was miraculous, but the man who was too proud to die soon forgot his battlefield promises and descended into a life of immortality. God has His hand on Roger though, and when his marriage failed he became desperately lonely. Again Roger called out to God- this time sincerely. Today Roger is still a warrior, but the battlefield is different. As the director of Teen Challenge of the Midlands he does battle for the souls of broken and bruised young street people. After all the lives he took in Vietnam, men and women now live again as a result of Roger Helle's commitment to Christ. In the new battles. God wins.
