Always a writer to go straight to the heart of matters, Sally Warner wastes no time in bringing readers right into the middle of this inspiring relationship. The subject matter is difficult: no one wants to imagine a best friend dying. Warner conveys Nana's deterioration (and Cady's reaction to it) in a welcome, straightforward, and honest manner, and she does so with such warmth that the real point of this story never gets lost.
