She reluctantly agrees, and soon realizes that she never stopped loving him, but a mysterious man known only as "Boots" schemes against them. He wants to destroy Tony's reputation, and keep him and Arabella apart. The two soon realize a plan is afoot, and, with the help of a maturing Jeremy, try to solve the mystery. Set against a backdrop of political intrigue in the fledgling U.S., Busbee's plot offers few surprises, but her interesting and dynamic characters are sure to please historical romance fans.
