From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-K-- ``Duck woke up late, and everything after that went from wrong to worse.'' The absolute worst thing, though, is that Bear grabs him, intending to pluck his feathers to make a soft winter bed. But Duck unwittingly makes Bear laugh so hard by tangling up his words that Bear, holding his side, lets him go. The story ends with Duck : flying home, ``laughing all the way.'' Children who love silliness, wordplay, and colorful language (``fiddle figs!'' is a favorite expression of Duck's) will delight in this book. Duck's cleverness will also appeal to them. And the pictures are treasures, contributing interest, personality, and humor. Composed in a cinematic way, full of unusual angles and points of view, they set Duck in the midst of a lively urban world. While not essential, this is sure to be a popular addition to picture book collections.
