About the Author:

Peter M. Barach, Ph.D., is Senior Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University Medical School, a past president of the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, and is in private practice in Cleveland, Ohio.

Robert F. Stamps is an addictions counselor and social science journalist who has written about mental health, substance abuse, and social policy for newspapers and magazines nationwide since l975.

From Library Journal:
Though the Internet's economic viability has recently come into question, its value as an information source continues to increase, as evidenced by handy guides of this type. Stamps (coauthor, DSM-IV Internet Companion), an addictions counselor, and Barach (psychiatry, Case Western Reserve Univ. Medical Sch.), a Ph.D. with a private practice, present a selective listing of web sites for DSM disorders and treatments, "megasites" for research, web community tools such as e-groups and mailing lists, and related information tailored to the needs of therapists in psychology, psychiatry, and associated fields. Citations include URLs, brief but useful annotations, and sponsorships that may indicate inherent bias. Slick web-site logos enhance the text's presentation. The range of disorders is comprehensive, and treatment modalities are broadly defined to include feng shui, animal-assisted therapy, and other alternative treatments as well as more conventional modes such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychoanalysis. This authoritative book provides an admirable blend of more than 1300 up-to-date sites. The print version is accompanied by a CD-ROM that contains links for all included web sites. Recommended as a highly relevant and time-saving tool for specialized mental health collections serving professionals and savvy consumers. Antoinette Brinkman, M.L.S., Evansville, Indiana
