Horatio Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford, was a politician, writer, architectural innovator and namesake of his cousin Horatio Nelson. William Thomas Beckford (1760-1844) was an English novelist, art critic, travel writer and politician. Matthew Gregory Lewis was an English novelist and dramatist.
Mary Shelley was an English novelist, married to the notable Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.
