The Circle Of Reason is a novel that documents the life of young Alu, who is a weaver by profession. His life takes a drastic turn when the young lad is wrongly accused of being a terrorist, and this causes him to flee from his village, after he is nearly arrested by the police. Constantly chased by a police inspector, the young lad flees from Bengal to Bombay, and continues his journey across the Persian Gulf until he reaches his last stop, North Africa. This captivating book has three parts and traces the life of the lead character across two continents.

About the Author:
Amitav Ghosh is a well-known Bengali author who has written several books like The Shadow Lines, The Calcutta Chromosome, and The Hungry Tide, amongst others. He was born on the 11th of July, 1956, in Kolkata, and completed his schooling at The Doon School. Ghosh later continued his further studies at St. Stephen s College and Delhi School of Economics. He also received his doctorate in social anthropology from St Edmund Hall, Oxford. In the year 2007, he was honored with the Padma Shri by the Indian Government. Ghosh currently resides in New York, along with his spouse Deborah Baker.
